Some personal news: I found out yesterday that I am a recipient of a grant from the New York State Council on the Arts which will go towards funding my study and performance of the ghazal. It is my first formal recognition as a musician and interdisciplinary artist. I am honored and so, so grateful to the folks at City Lore: New York Center for Urban Folk for sponsoring me. Those who know me know how obsessively I’ve pursued ghazal training, how many doubts and fears I’ve had, and how passionately I’ve dreamed.
